Matt leads Zone’s international business, including executive responsibility for our international client group and our office in Germany. He has led mission critical projects for Coca-Cola, Aviva and Maersk among others, particularly focusing on how content can deliver genuine business impact. That’s a subject close to Matt’s heart, and he regularly speaks at events across Europe on the subject of how brands can create and distribute effective content. Matt began his career as a journalist, working on music, lifestyle and film magazines in Hong Kong and Australia, before returning to the UK for stints at EMAP and Northern & Shell. He also wrote the book Leyton Orient Greats, which he assures us was well-received by its “niche” audience. He joined Zone in 2007 and, as editorial director, built up a team of over 35 journalists before moving to his current role.
Strange but true:
Matt found himself on the receiving end of a foul-mouthed torrent of abuse from Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie after stupidly suggesting that Frankie Goes To Hollywood should be considered a punk band.
