Great clients, great work, great staff. All inextricably linked and what all digital agencies work relentlessly to achieve. Head has a pretty good strike rate on all three of these, and over 16 years has built a solid business around the core values of integrity, collaboration and the pursuit of excellence.
When we looked to the next five years, the changing market and the increased competition for scarce resources, it was clear that continuing to do what we loved – solving hard problems through making things – was going to be in high demand. This presented a challenge for a mid-sized agency like Head: how could we continue to deliver great work for our clients, evolve our infrastructure, keep our values and continue to attract excellent staff fast enough to capitalise on that opportunity? Particularly when large consultancies and networks were moving into a space that had traditionally been ours.
I met Jon, Zone’s CEO, at a BIMA Directors Dinner and instantly liked him. I thought he seemed very ‘Head’ and I really liked the way he thought about problems and the way he ran Zone. A few months after this, when Zone approached Head to discuss whether we could do anything together, it was very interesting, largely because of what Jon stood for. As we met more of the team at Zone, we realised their value system was very similar to Head’s. As coffees and breakfasts became more defined meetings, we began to see a route where we could join up with Zone and maintain the values so dear to us and those who work with us, while benefiting from the scale of Zone and its second-to-none operations and infrastructure. Zone’s goal is to build an agency that has all the speed, agility and passion of a small agency with all the benefits of a large organisation’s infrastructure.
Today we are very happy to announce the acquisition of Head by Zone to form the UK’s largest independent agency. This will allow us to focus on what we love and continue to build a better, stronger independent agency.
We are very excited about this next step in Head’s (and Zone’s) story – we are now the largest independent agency in the UK with the ability to service all the digital needs of our clients. A big thank you to all our clients, staff and friends who have helped Head get to this milestone and we look forward to taking the next part of the journey together with you.
